Trouble Twisters

Jaide and Jack Shield's lives are changing in a very, very strange way. The weather is turning against them. Magical disasters occur when they're around. And a mysterious explosion has just destroyed their house...from the inside.
Without knowing why, the twins are stolen away to live with Grandma X--a relative they've never, ever met. At Grandma X's house, things are even stranger. Weather vanes point in the opposite direction of the wind. Doors appear and disappear. Cats talk.
Jaide and Jack don't know the reason behind all this strangeness. They don't know that they're troubletwisters, and that they must defend the world against a dark, evil force. The time has come for them to discover the truth--and the powers that come with the truth.
Are they ready?

The Hurricane Song

This month my class has been reading the book Hurricane Song. In Hurricane Song, by Paul Volponi, the author describes what it is like to live through the rough storm of Hurricane Katrina
The protagonist, Miles, is a young boy with an obsession of football, who comes to live with his dad, Pops, a musician in New Orleans after Pops and Miles's mother divorce. Their relationship is rough, as Miles believes that his father favors music over him and doesn't support his passion of football. When Katrina hits, Miles and Pops are forced to take refuge in the Superdome, where they face many challenges. Among these challenges are unsanitary bathrooms, lack of supplies, and gang violence. Originally Miles and Pops had a rough and confusing relationship, but as time progresses and as they face the hardships of the Superdome, they come to realize that they love each other, even though Miles thought Pops favored music over him. The author wants the reader to know that hard times can bring people together, such as the challenges in the Superdome changed Miles, Pops, and their relationship for the better.
Before hurricane Katrina, Miles was a selfish boy who thought of only football. He believed his father didn't care for him, and this caused him to hang out with some bad people. Among these people were Dunham and Caine, who were football jocks. Once in the Superdome, Dunham and Caine become gang members and they stole people's money, food, and supplies. Miles was pressured into joining them, but in that moment he began to change and he realized it was wrong, so he didn't. Another example of when Miles changed was when he played the drums at a funeral. He became really involved in the rhythm and beat, which pleased his father, and helped him understand that football wasn't everything.
Pops also changed a lot throughout the book. The first few months of Miles living with him, he gave Miles the impression that he favored music over him, which was true. When Miles specifically asked for sporting equipment for his birthday, Pops gave him a drum, hoping to create a love of music inside of him. When they begin to reside in the Superdome, Pops insists that he doesn't want to get involved in anyone's problems. As the situation becomes dreadful, and the hardships of the Superdome become worse, Pops assists people less fortunate than him, and comforts the family of a man who committed suicide. Finally, when a gang starts a fire, Pops grabs his trumpet and Miles as well, which shows how much he is starting to care for Miles, as he willingly saves his life.
Throughtout the book their relationship really progresses. In the beginning of the book the two are very seperate towards each other. Miles cares of only football and Pops only cares for music. As they try to survive during Hurricane Katrina, they become closer. Miles expresses an interest in music, and Pops becomes open to the idea of Miles playing football. Pops decides to rebel and he leaves the Superdome, and Miles willingly follows him. Once outside of the former sports arena Miles is strangled by a looter on the street and Pops hits the man over the head with his most prized possesion, his trumpet. Afterwards, Pop says "I couldn't lose you Miles, not for anything", which is a perfect example of how they come to love each other.
In conclusion Miles and Pop become very close as they suffer the hardships of Katrina. This book showed me that I shouldn't take my good relationship with my parents and throw it all away because some people go through life and death situations just to get closer.

UnEnchanted

I have recently read the Unenchated. In this the main character Mina has a family curse that she vowed to do it to protect her 8 year old brother charlie. Charlie doesn't talk because e feels no need to talk. But mina shows a lot of courage and responsibility in the book. Her father died from this curse and so have her ancestors. A little Fae, Jared, decided to help because she look lost, weak, and he believed she wouldn't last a week with the story. jared total flirts with Mina but anyway he decides to help.
This thing started to happen when Mina saved Brody, popular dude, life. then she swore she ran  over a dog or really big creature riding bike to school. Brody rode over her bike and started giving her rides to school until he said he wanted to be more than friends. Everything changed at that moment. Savannah, Brody's ex, thinks Mina is a gold digger. He asked Mina to the dance and not her. A cougar named Claire, who is 126 years old, tried to suck the life out of Brody LITERALLY! that all so far can't wait to tell all you readers the rest!

Robert Frost The Road Not Taken

I just read the poem "The Road Not Taken" by Robert Frost. In the poem the author want the reader to know that when he reached crossroads in his life, he chose a path, but is certainhe wonder where the other road would have taken him.
In the first stanza to speaker comes to the lines "two roads divereged in a yellow wood," and he needs to make a decision on which road to take.In the second stanza when looking at the paths he discovers that each road "had worn them really the same," showing that there really wasn't a difference between the two roads, perhaps because he really didn't know what each road held.In the last stanza the speaker tell the reader with a "sigh" that he "took the one less travaled by." We know that both of these roads were the same. so we can infer that the speaker wanted his life to be more corgeous and independent.
In life everyone has to make decision starting at one point in my life. I satrted making my decicion at the age of 5 deciding who would get me in trouble at school or wouldn't. It is reasonable that some of these decions are hard and difficult to make. Some we will regret even making them, but we have to learn to live with the choices we make.

Serpant's Shadow #3

Last time I talked about how Setne was at trial and he said he wouldn't kill the Kanes but he lied. At the temple where the the book of Thoth is the thing the need to kill Apophis. Carter and Zia are forced to go into the temple where the Apis bull tries to murder them. Their boat is getting fixed while Zia channels the power of the gods and faints. Carters get her into the boat and tells Setne to give the captain orders and Setne tells the captain to kill Carter. Then during the fight Zia Woke up and killed the captain Carter was hurt severely but Zia rescued him by putting Nefertem's balm on his boo-boos.
Setne finally met up with them after they shared a "romantic picnic" by making out by a lava lake. Setne tricked them saying to untie the ribbons of hathor off him the cast the spell to capture the shadow of Apophis, but actually tied them up in the ribbons. But Sadie came to the rescue by falling from the sky and tying him up first. She captured the shadow of Apophis. But he friend Bes, a hairy little dwarf god, saved them from the chaos. In his limo. Thats pretty much it almost done with the book can't wait to tell you readers the rest.

Serpant's Shadow AND MORE

Last time I blogged that the fifty first nome got destroyed, and it's all "Carters fault." I got some comments that I should tell you about the first two books are The Red Pyramid, The Throne of Fire, and last The Serpant's Shadow.
The first book is about when Carter and Sadie's mother died they have no idea who each other are. Sadie lives with her grandparent in London and Carter lives with his father in Egypt. Until the meet up in the the british museum. Where they unleash a  crazy god named set and go on crazy adventures.
The second book is about their most threatening enemy yet - the chaos snake Apophis - is rising. If they don't prevent him from breaking free in a few days' time, the world will come to an end. In other words, it's a typical week for the Kane family.
To have any chance of battling the Forces of Chaos, the Kanes must revive the sun god Ra. Spoiler alert the do revive the sun god but not the way the expected.
In the third book well I have already explained some of it. Can't wait to tell you guys the rest of the book.

Serpent's Shadow

I gave up on the book children of the lamp. It sort of got boring so I'm reading a new book called the serpents shadow. Yes I know it is the third book in the series but I did read the first two.
So far in the serpents shadow Apophis, the bad guy, escaped his chamber and is the destroying all the books the tell Carter and Sadie Kane how to defeat him. In Dallas there is a museum that contains the last book. The owner of it JD Grison let them examine the book. While the magicians of the fifty first nome party. Apophis makes an unexpected visit to the magicians and kills them. Sadie and Apophis fight t the death and Sadie "dies."
Just kiding she does die but magically comes back to life. But because Carter is the leader, the House of life thinks its his fault.
So far that's all I've read can't wait to tell you readers the rest!!!

Children Of The Lamp #2

Last time I talked about how Otis and Melody were on the plane and some how disappeared. This is because of the kids powers they are djinns. Djinns are people with lots of luck. Philippa and John made this happen because during the airplane turbulence the couple prayed that they would back home. POOF. The during a  interview with the press. "During the air turbulence, we prayed that we wolud be back home and poof we're sitting on our coach at home.
Philippa and John got off the plane in search for their uncle Nimrod. They search at their terminal and a man in red greets them. Their uncle loves red and has a butler with only one arm! Nimrod owns a maroon and silver colored Rolls-Royce. The cool thing about the Rolls-Royce it is modified to permit a one armed person to drive it.
At the house the twins describe it as a old fashion kind of house. "The oldest part of the house looked quite medieval; french stone fireplaces faded tapestries etc." according to the book. Most of the books had egyptian artifacts.
SO far that's all I have read. Can't wait to tell you more!

The Son Of Neptune

I just started the book The Son Of Neptune. So far Percy Jackson just woke up in the the middle of no where he lost his memory an dis fighting gorgons. Gorgons are the exact same thing as Medusa but they cant turn people to stone. That was Medusa's curse. So far I have noticed that Percy has no memory of anything that has happened to him.

First of he doesn't know when his birthday. What kind of person doesn't know his birthday. Reyna, somewhat the leader, questions him "you're what, sixteen." He replies "I think so." This is one reason why I believe he has no memory of anything that has happened to him.

The second thing is he feels he met Reyna but he is not completely sure about. He remembers "her black and glossy as volcanic rock." But decides to say "we have met." What I would like to know is how come he doesn't remember this stuff I know i would.

Lastly because he wants to see Annebeth. He does remember what she looks like. Lupa a wolf told him that when he sees her he will get his memory back. He is eager to see Annebeth but must attend camp for demigods.

This is why I believe Percy Jackson has no memory of anything that has happened to him.
